Olton Chess Club have just been informed of the death of former player, John Clulee. John was playing for the club in the sixties and served as Treasurer from the early seventies until 2 years ago. John was a keen player, but struggled with modern time limits somewhat. He was an accomplished runner and completed a number of marathons, but health issues in later years limited him to walking. He enjoyed watching cricket and was often to be seen at Warwickshire County Cricket, whilst also supporting local cricket teams. He was 81.
His funeral will take place on Thursday 24th April at Robin Hood Crematorium, Streetsbrook Rd, Shirley, Solihull B90 3NL, at 2.30pm. There will be a gathering at Moseley Cricket club after the funeral, which is on Streetsbrook Road immediately adjacent to the Crematorium.
